Exercise

Home / For Patients / Exercise

If you are injured, and you have tried to exercise in the past, you know that often you end up with chronic pain. The moment most people feel this, they start have fears of re-injury, and a cycle begins.

Although starting an exercise routine can be a daunting task when in chronic pain, it is absolutely necessary! The bottom line is:

YOU WILL NOT GET OPTIMAL PAIN RELIEF IF YOU DO NOT EXERCISE

When people think of exercise they often only think of the “aerobic phase“, however it is important to know that there are five stages of working out (each equally important)

5 Stages of Working Out:
Stretch
Warm up
Aerobic phase
Cool down
Relaxation

Ideas for a quick exercise:

  • When watching TV, stretch during commercial breaks.
  • Walk your dog in the front yard instead of “letting him out.”
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
