Spinal surgery is generally used to correct anatomical issues that cause pain symptoms in the neck/arm or back/leg areas. Patients often do well following these surgeries, but some continue to experience persistent pain despite satisfactory healing of the surgical site. This condition is called post-laminectomy syndrome or failed back surgery syndrome.
