Fibromyalgia is a disorder that causes muscle and skeletal pain throughout the body. Other symptoms can include fatigue, difficulty sleeping, memory loss, and mood swings. The initial trigger for the disorder may be a physical trauma, surgery, infection, or severe psychological distress, but there isn’t always a clear cause. Sometimes symptoms gradually appear with no apparent reason.
Fibromyalgia can be treated with medication and consistent self-care. While no single treatment works for every symptom, treatments are designed to minimize symptoms and improve overall health.
