Elizabeth Appiah APRN, FNP-C was born in Jefferson City, Missouri and spent most of her childhood in St. Louis MO. She is an active-duty military spouse and has lived in many states throughout the country, calling TX her new home.
Elizabeth graduated from UMSL in 2009 with a bachelor’s in communication and a minor in education. She spent the first 2-3 years of her career teaching ESL on the border of Juarez, Mexico. In 2020, Elizabeth decided to change career fields and pursue a degree in medicine. Elizabeth completed her bachelor’s in nursing in 2022 at MGHIHP and her master’s in nursing at Simmons University in 2024. She gained vast patient care experience while completing clinicals at Massachusetts General Hospital during the height of COVID.
For her first 2 years practicing as an RN, Elizabeth worked in the women’s health field and gained her certification as a limited sonographer, providing over 100 ultrasounds to diagnose pregnancy and determine fetal development. She is certified as a Marquette Method Instructor to provide training in the Marquette Method of family planning and continues to teach clients this method in her spare time. She produced and directed the diversity training seminar for her local women’s clinic. Elizabeth researched and put together the first staff training on maternal health concerns in obstetrics for women of color.
After completing her master’s in nursing at Simmons University and graduating Summa Cum Laude, Elizabeth decided to pursue a career in chronic pain management as a new provider.
Elizabeth’s mother was diagnosed with post-polio syndrome when Elizabeth was a child, and she spent most of her adult life watching her mother struggle with pain management. It emboldened her to pursue a career in helping individuals cope and treat chronic pain. Elizabeth is excited to continue her journey as a new provider in the field of chronic pain management and continue to use her passion for helping others to aid individuals in finding lasting treatment options.
When she is not working, Elizabeth loves spending time with her two beautiful daughters and her husband. She enjoys hiking, singing, travelling the world and playing games with the family.
